Travel up the Gillies Range south of Cairns to Lake Barrine for morning tea.

Visit Queensland’s largest windfarm at Windy Hill on the Kennedy Highway at Ravenshoe where the 20 wind turbines are located on privately owned farmland. Collectively these turbines produce 12 megawatts of power, which is injected directly into the Ergon Energy distribution network. This is enough energy to supply 3,500 homes – equivalent to the local towns of Atherton and Mareeba. Carbon dioxide emissions from non-renewable sources have been reduced by 25,000 tonnes.

Windy Hill is accredited under the Australian government's Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000, and by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority as a green power generator.

Visit an Ergon Energy project solar powered house site at Herberton.
